»  Internet Explorer 9 Beta Now Available, With WGS Taskbar and Jumplist Support

Microsoft today announced the availability of Internet Explorer 9 Beta, the first public beta build of their new browser. ?People go to the Web for sites, not for the browser,? said Microsoft?s Dean Hachamovitch at today?s launch. ?How can IE make sites shine?? The answer is more standards support, less browser and the focus placed firmly on content.

IE 9 offers a much cleaner design than previous versions of the browser, with enhanced support for HTML 5 and CSS 3 standards, hardware acceleration utilising your computer?s GPU as well as a number of integrated features for Windows 7 users, including the ability to drag and drop browser tabs to the taskbar for permanent links to favourite websites as well as customised forward and back buttons, and jumplists which will take you to specific areas of the site. Ed Bott has a great review of the browser which is a recommended read.

If you want to test out the new features, We Got Served now supports IE9?s new Taskbar and Jumplist integration. Simply drag a tab loaded up with WGS to your Windows 7 taskbar, where it will be pinned. Click the icon to open up a customised version of the browser which will open with the website (check out those blue buttons), whilst right clicking the icon will open up a jumplist with links to the forums, wiki, contact page and latest news.
